Co-presented by JLTV and Jewish Life Foundation
This spring the LAJS and the Jewish Community Chorale were pleased to partner with the Jewish Life Foundation and JLTV to present Shake My Faith: Music to set us free!
The program featured a gospel Passover story composed and performed by Karen Hart, along with music by William Sharlin and Michael Isaacson.
Winner of the Song of the Year sponsored by West Coast Songwriters for her haunting ballad Mirabelle, Karen is also a two-time recipient of Music Connection Magazine’s Top 100 Artists, Best of Los Angeles Women in Music Award, a winner of the Barry Manilow /Concord Records Award for lyric writing, winner of Best Song by Los Angeles Songwriter’s Co-op and she is a three-time winner of Best Performer by West Coast Songwriters. Karen has been honored with four world premieres of her music at the Los Angeles Music Center, and her songs for motion pictures have been singled out by Variety, People Magazine and the Los Angeles Times.
In a wide-ranging career, Karen has sung in numerous motion pictures, as well as dozens of TV and radio spots: Karen is the singing voice of Sigourney Weaver in the Showtime movie Snow White. She wrote all of the songs for the Divine cult classic Lust In The Dust, and she has performed on numerous occasions with the Los Angeles Jewish Symphony, the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Los Angeles Master Chorale.
Karen’s award-winning choral music is performed and recorded in major US cities and worldwide. Karen’s unique choral work “Judah and His Maccabees: A Hanukkah Gospel Story,” is performed every holiday season, and was premiered and recorded by America’s Got Talent finalists Angel City Chorale. 2016 celebrated Karen with a televised performance of Judah and His Maccabees live from the Los Angeles Music Center, accompanied by Dr. Iris Levine’s award-winning Vox Femina Chorale.
