Maestra Green Conducts the VOPA Orchestra: Carmen
June 13 – 14 & 20 – 21, 2026
El Portal Theatre
Presented by Valley Opera & Performing Arts
Fans will be dancing flamenco in the aisles as VOPA presents one of the most beloved operas of all time — Bizet’s Carmen. Directed by Dylan F. Thomas and conducted by Maestra Noreen Green, this fully-staged production ignites the stage with fierce storytelling, unforgettable music, and powerhouse performances.
Set in sun-drenched Seville and bursting with iconic melodies, Carmen tells the story of a free-spirited woman whose defiance and passion drive her to a tragic end. From the seductive “Habanera” to the thunderous “Toreador Song,” every moment pulses with intensity.
With the VOPA Orchestra and an electrifying cast, this is Carmen as you’ve never seen it before.
Valley Opera & Performing Arts (VOPA) is in its 20th season of bringing opera and other musical genres to Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley and beyond. VOPA presents performances of everything from fully staged opera and musical theater works with orchestra, to laid back concerts of jazz standards and even classic rock concerts with its band VOPA Rocks. Through the company’s Opera Tree Outreach, Education, and Community Service program, VOPA provides entertainment for underserved and economically or otherwise disadvantaged communities such as retirement communities, charities, homeless shelters, schools, and hospitals.
