Klassics to Klezmer

The LAJS kicked off its 20th anniversary season on Sunday, March 9th with Klassics to Klezmer, with a unique blend of classical music and the traditional sound of Eastern Europe’s Klezmer!

Maestra Noreen Green and the Los Angeles Jewish Symphony String Ensemble, in collaboration with American Jewish University Whizin Center for Continuing Education, celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the LAJS and the 75th Anniversary of the America-Israel Cultural Foundation (AICF).

As part of a West Coast tour to celebrate AICF’s anniversary, two of their outstanding soloists, AICF scholarship winners and internationally acclaimed performers Andy Feldbau, piano, and Asi Matathias, violin, joined the LAJS in a rare performance of Felix Mendelssohn’s thrilling Concerto for Violin, Piano and Strings.  Also featured was LAJS Klezmer Master Zinovy Goro, clarinet, performing Srul Glick’s The Klezmer Wedding.

Klassics to Klezmer was part of the Whizin Center For Continuing Education programming at the American Jewish University.
