4th and 5th graders students attending a Patchwork concert cheer with their hands in the air, waiving their red concert programs excitedly.

On March 19th, 2023 at 4PM, the Los Angeles Jewish Symphony and Wilshire Boulevard Temple celebrated the shared musical heritage of Sephardic, Latino, Mizrachi, and Persian music with the free public concert A Patchwork of Cultures: Sharing Our Traditions Through Music. The program highlighted Mizrahi/Persian music in celebration of Nowruz, the Persian New Year.

The concert was co-presented by Wilshire Boulevard Temple and performed in their historic sanctuary, a gorgeous cultural monument that is home to the oldest Jewish congregation in Los Angeles.

The mixing of cultures was personified by the concert’s guest artists, Argentinian-born Rabbi Cantor Marcelo Gindlin and versatile Jewish, Persian-American musician Chloe Pourmorady.
